Tiwah is the final ritual of death rates for the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan Tengah (Central Kalimantan), particularly the Inland Dayak adherents of religion as the religion of ancestral Kaharingan Dayak people. Tiwah ceremony is a ceremony that is usually held over the death of someone who has died and been buried for so long until the remains of his body was only bones dipekirakan only.


Tiwah ritual as a ritual aims to rectify the spirit or soul travel in question towards Lewu Tatau (Heaven - the Language Sangiang) so they can live peaceful and peace in nature's belief.

In addition, Central Kalimantan Dayak Tribe tiwah also intended by the people in Central Kalimantan as the procession of the Dayak tribe to remove Rutas or misfortune for the family of the deceased who left bad influences that hit.

For the Dayak, a process needs to proceed with the rituals of death continued (refinement) so as not to disturb the comfort and tranquility of people who are still alive. Furthermore, tiwah also berujuan to remove the bonding status of widow or widower for married couples. Post tiwah, they customarily allowed for to determine the subsequent spouse or still choose not to marry again.
