The lake was planted with palm trees, Where again we are looking for Fish

"Out of our forests destroyed, depleted our seas polluted, depleted our clean air to breathe. Now our rivers and lakes began to disappear."

a sentence full of emotion, but a full surrender from the mouth of a resident in the Hinterland of Central Kalimantan who happened to her hut's walls his bark I frequent for shelter that afternoon.

simple hut in which there are twoone boy aged about 5 and 9 years old and a mother who was holding a tiny baby girl aged about 8 or 10 months.

that afternoon I felt the atmosphere a little tense, maybe because of my arrival and suddenly brought the camera and a backpack big enough, though it is only clothing and other supplies. The host looked surprised and puzzled to see me this coming. but after I explained that my arrival was to takeimages the atmosphere around the oil palm plantations for the purpose of documentary filmmaking, the father started a little welcome to me, though his eyes still looked suspicious to me.

.

atmosphere so relaxed, I offer cigarettes to the old man, but he refused and took his property clove Roko and lit a rod, as well as me. While smoking the father asked me, "you are the company you? (Meaning palm tree company) survey the location of it?" once againI explained the purpose of my existence in this region to the father, that I was not the oil companies, nor is it being the plantation site survey, I pointed out that I was working on a film about the impact of oil palm plantations on local communities, and happened to stop by to take shelter at home this and blah .. blah ..

Then after talking a while, then I find out if the old man is a fish finder. formerly he was a laborer in a logging company. hetells how difficult he is now looking for fish, because fish is the place to find so many have perished because of the planted palm. he and his family at this time relied heavily of fish catches.

The parents also took me to sites that used to be a favorite fishing location, because the number of fish abundance and endless even though every day he managed to catch dozens of kilograms of fish a kind of haruan (cork) there. but he asked me toperpetuate some of the swamps, rivers and small lakes that have now been closed by oil palm plantations owned palm oil company.

Really, until my location can only hold sad to see palm trees stretch as far as the eye could see, and some creeks are almost gone, and a lake are planted with palm up central lake.

indeed indeed, Investment Oil palm plantation in Central Kalimantan is not prioritizing the interests of ecology and the surrounding community.

.

now becomes my duty to immediately tell through afilm about the condition of society and the environment around coconut palm plantation area in Central Kalimantan. May God always gave the power to me.

It is also centre of evolution and radiation of many endemic species of plants and animals. The remaining Borneo rainforest is the only natural habitats for the endangered Bornean Orangutan. Scienties named their find the Kapuas mud snake, and speculated it might only occur in the Kapuas river drainage system. World Wildlife Fund has stated that 361 animal and plant species have been discovered in Borneo since 1996, underscoring its unparalleled biodiversity. russian road ?

Asphalt road was straight and smooth. There was no shock when the car sped on it. This is different from the trans-Kalimantan road from Nunukan, East Kalimantan, to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, which is full of holes and bumpy.
Locals know it as a road path-Tangkiling Palangkaraya. However, Gardea Samsudin (70) remember him as the Russian Road.
Samsudin, male from Bandung, West Java, is a little piece of witnesses is left of the road along the 34 kilometers with a width of 6 meters was built by engineers from Russia, first of The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Along with dozens of Dayak, Samsudin and hundreds of other Java people working under the direction of dozens of Russian engineers. "I'm preparing the stones that became the foundation of this road," said Samsudin who is now settled in Palangkaraya.
Not easy to find other witnesses Russian road construction that want to talk. Sabran Achmad (80), Central Kalimantan, community leaders, said, many workers who helped build the Russian Road to hide. It can not be separated from the politics of the New Order which gives a black stigma to something that smells of the Old Order. And, the road built by Russian engineers were indeed derived from the Sukarno era, which is close to the Eastern Bloc countries was in 1950 until the 1960s.
"The road was built to mark the construction of the City of Palangkaraya. Previously, the road was a dense forest. Trees was this magnitude, "he said as he wrapped his arms Sabran.
Sukarno's dream
In the beginning was swinging an ax President Soekarno on a chip of wood in Pahandut, Kampung Dayak, in the heart of Borneo, July 17, 1957. A chip of wood split marks a new urban development that dreamed of Sukarno. The new city was later given the name of Palangkaraya, which means a holy place, noble, and sublime, which is designed as the capital of Indonesia Raya.
However, Sukarno dreams never come true. Palangkaraya is simply a capital of Central Kalimantan Province, dark and lackluster due to power shortage.
Designed as the nation's capital, Palangkaraya originally built with a clear concept. There is a grouping function that separates the functions of government buildings, commercial, and residential. The landscapes are designed to integrate land and river transportation.
Kahajan the orientation center in the northern city. A road was built in the city center toward the direction of Sampit. That road is now called the Road of Russia, the best national road all the way through which the trans-Kalimantan Borneo Cruising Compass Team with the Department of Public Works (PU). "We never again build a road as good as Russia is still smooth road despite decades. Look, other roads in Kalimantan newly built quickly once broken, "said Wibowo, Public Works Department staff member of the Regional Betterment Office VII Banjarmasin.
Digging peat
A piece of road was a witness proficiency Russian engineers to build roads in a very different soil conditions in their home countries. Sabran recounts, all the way dredged peat at the site. "After the peat dredged, created flow like a river. Then, the path filled with stone, sand, and solid ground, "said Sabran.
Tangkiling  mountain

On December 17, 1962, Russia completed the construction of road foundation. In later years, living installing drainage, hardening, and paving. Work is slow, but the results are excellent.
However, the planned road construction along the 175 kilometers through Parenggean then to Pangkalan Bun Sampit and then connecting the ports of Palangkaraya with river leading to the termination of this Java early in 1966. When the newly built road 34 km.
The change of power in post-Movement 30 September 1965 makes the Russian people rushed to leave Indonesia. All project workers do not want to hide myself because disangkutpautkan with Russia, the Communist Party of Indonesia, or even Sukarno.
Russian road construction story was finished. Everything smelled of Russia removed, including road building science engineer who taught them in joint-Tangkiling Palangkaraya. Road construction in Kalimantan never again start with dredge peat. However, enough with the foundation of Galam timber that is attached in peatlands that (the foundation is known as cerucuk). Road construction to be cheaper and faster, but road construction is not durable.
Head of Highways Department of Public Works Ridwan Manurung said Central Kalimantan Province, in theory, Palangkaraya joint Russian-built Tangkiling it is true. "We opened the road alignment, must be considered the basic soil structure, foundation, and the cover layer. If there is soil humus, should be replaced with sand, soil solids, or granite. Any deep peat, should be discarded, "he said.
According Wibowo, road construction with Russian technique that will cost three times more expensive than the technique performed by cerucuk, as we now make. "However, the age of the road with the Russian technique that can be five times higher than our ways," he said.

AMPIT DAN AMPAT

In the days of yore, in the interior forests of Central Kalimantan, especially in Botanical Joyless forest, live many kinds of animals. But unique, these animals could speak like a human.
As noted above, there lived a sparrow named Ampit. These sparrows are women and in those days was growing up. Life is very poor sparrows, where this bird lived alone, foraging alone even make sarangpun alone. This sparrow is closed once, where he is far from the village animals in the forest. Sparrow is actually eager to live in the middle of the forest community, but unfortunately he did not dare because his fur is very ugly without the slightest hue.
At one time, when the sparrow is to plant rice seed in his field, there came a sparrow the other, once diaman exquisite fur. This sparrow is a traveler, whose primary goal is to find a mate. Male sparrow is named Ampat. When first met, Ampit sensed there was something else his heart, so is the Ampat is not much different from the Ampit. Some second time this bird glued to each other, without a word and sound, silence. . . !
With a full smile and friendliness, the Ampat greet the Ampit with gentle words said. Ampat explained to the Ampit that he was hungry because it had been 2 days without food. So, Ampitpun bring the Ampat to its nest to prepare food and beverages. In the evening, he asked the Ampit Ampat about his life, and also about everyday. Maybe because it feels right, in the morning two of these sparrows come to "Damang" in the forest. At that time, the position Damang on hold by deer. After deliberation by all citizens of the forest, then ditentukanlah good day for a wedding Ampit and this Ampat.
Arrived on the appointed day, all citizens hutanpun Kancil came to the house to celebrate the marriage Ampit and Ampat. At the banquet, all the undanganpun sit neatly. When the Bears want to take the food, everything scold Bear. Because the hands and nails and a long black bear, then the Bear was also told to wash his hands in the back. When finished washing his hands, Beruangpun come to pick up food. But once again his hand on hold by an ape, and was told again washed his hands to the back. Thus, it continues to happen, to the extent that food and beverages out there was no rest. Bear was very upset and ran into the woods, crying, Bear is vengeance upon all the inhabitants of the forest because the Bears considered all stingy and not pleased with himself.
So that this problem does not continue anymore, then came to the nest Damang Bear and all the forest dwellers to ask for Sorry, and also explains the problem sits. Damang with great charisma and commanding also explained to the Bears, that assumption is addressed to them all that's not true. Init problem is that the nails and bear arms can not be white, while they all do not know that hands and nails can not bear to be white. Because it is by nature a black bear from head to toe. It's all a misunderstanding, between Bear and forest residents. After hearing it all, Bear was conscious and did not hurt anymore. With a full smile, Bear also shook hands with all citizens of the forest and also forgave all of them.

We return to Ampit and Ampat. After marriage, the two of them returned to the nest. Everyday they are both farming and also opened a new land. After years of living together, the pair also missed the sparrows are sweet and cute kids. So, pamitlah Ampat to his wife to be imprisoned in the mountains Bondang. His wife could not resist the Ampat, because her husband has been rounded and embroidery can not be contested again. With tears, Ampit also releasing her husband's departure with a heavy heart.
Several years ago, laying the Ampit this. But oddly enough, the egg that came out it was just a course. With great affection, the Ampit keep this egg with patience and also full of tenderness. Because he was alone, it is unlikely he will continue to keep the eggs constantly. Especially in the barn where the rice is low, then the Ampit reluctantly departs into the fields to grow rice. In the afternoon, Ampit return to the nest to prepare for the needs of these egg. But Ampit surprised, because in the nest had no eggs. With a heavy heart and go to pieces, fly home Ampit Damang to tell this incident. After hearing all the stories Ampit Damang, then in kumpulnya all forest dwellers.
What a surprise this Damang, after further careful snakes just are not coming. So Damang with all citizens of the forest was soon off to a nest of snakes, when we get there Damang then asked the snake why not come to the house of the Damang. The answer is very short snake once, that he was tired san glut so not able to walk into the house Damang. Damang and other residents became suspicious because in the vicinity of the snake there is no trace of blood, or feathers and bones of its prey. So Damang directly asked the serpent is, is it true that swallowed him sparrow eggs? Ularpun immediately angry and denies it all, in hamburkannya able to Damang and forest residents. Because they are threatened, they ran away all the snakes out of the nest.
Seeing it all, cry these sparrows. When the tears fall, so the water after reaching the soil surface. When the tears fall again, the water in the soil surface had a four inch height. And so on, until the snake was drowned and dead. After the water receded, the Snake has been destroyed, just behind sparrow eggs left in her abdomen. With a joyous heart, Ampit was swiftly taken and brought to the nest egg. From then on, Ampit always keep their eggs with a full alert. Because he did not want a similar incident will happen again, it is enough to experience it all worthwhile. To be more loving and more profound sense of the warmth of true affection.

A few months later, menetaslah egg. So Break these Ampit child cry because of hunger, fly the Ampit to the barn to take a rice paddy. But unfortunately, all the rest is up there. So Ampitpun persuade his son to be quiet, and go the Ampit this to the fields to harvest rice. Not long after, this Ampit children wept as she said "plit-plit henna, I jeer germ ongku bo" which means it is I want to eat rice. "Patience my son, be patient" said the Ampit this. Not long after, he returned to the nest with this Ampit carrying rice. Arriving at the nest, with great affection in the rice give it to her child. Because too many children eat the rice, then this Ampit bengkaklah child's abdomen. Every day every night is always crying, because her stomach hurt. Therefore, this Ampit then departed the home Damang for help heal his disease. After the specified day, then went Damang and other forest residents to nest Ampit. We perform the Balian with Wasirnya is deer, not long after the child was healed this Ampit. After Balian is completed, then kumpulah all to eat. When all was eating, a dog came into the house of the Ampit. Mean heart wants to see Balian, but unfortunately it was too late. When the dog climbed into the nest Ampit, all the animals that exist in the guffaw. The dog becomes confused and surprised, and laughed Anjingpun bandwagon even though he did not know what actually laughed at her friends. Feeling sorry for the dog, then whisper Kancil that they were laughing at himself because he was naked and his cock all the tools visible. Hearing all that, then the dog is angry. Chased all the animals and laid abriknyalah all the nests of other forest animals. Sa'at dog was chasing hare, then in the sumpahinyalah Dogs. Any dog whose name is on sa'at chasing deer would die, because dogs do not know the name of reciprocation and gratitude.
Several years later, he returned from the mountain Bondang Ampat out imprisoned. What a happy heart sa'at met his beloved wife and also met her beloved son even though he saw for the first time. And they lived happily until the end.

And King Bunu memeng bequeathed to inhabit the earth with - typical features of their offspring could be dead or dying after a descent into the ninth. - Typical features of the other was King Bunu can not host, then changed his food was changed to rice, side dishes - dishes, etc.. As our food today.
King Bunu in anugrahi by Ranying Hatalla Heaven (God), an iron (Sanaman Lenteng). Sanaman Lenteng is an iron accidentally discovered by King Bunu when he played d river with his two brothers. The two brothers of King Bunu that each - each named King Sangen and King Sangiang. Iron is found by the three siblings was "strange", because that one end of the iron arising out of the water and the other drowned. If in a strange analogy, should the iron rod was submerged. King Bunu accidentally hold one end of Sanaman Lenteng who drowned and his two brothers hold one end of which arise out of the water, so that by his account because of King Bunu not deliberately holding the tip of a submerged Sanaman Lenteng, then life is not eternal like the other two brothers, Sangen, King and King Sangiang. Iron that they found it eventually made into boards Dohong Fortress (a type of tool that looks like a typical knife) by their father.
King Bunu and his two brothers also awarded by Ranying Hatalla sky a bird named Elephant Bakapek Bulau Camel Away Barikur Hintan walloping. They were awarded a bird when they were disebuah hill called Bukit Engkan buffer.
When they had found the bird, apparently of three brothers that no one wants to budge and continued to scramble to get the bird. - Then the king Sangen wielding dohongnya ago menghujamkannya toward the bird. Sehingg, the bird's blood came out and King Sangen took the initiative to hold the blood of the bird into a sangku (a bowl). And with a flash of blood is collected in the bird that was changed mneenjadi sangku gold, diamonds, and jewels.

Apparently, the siblings' father knows his son's third perrbuatan. So, with spiritual power, his father went to see her three children were. When I got there Manyamei Tunggul Crisp (their father) to see what has been done by his son because the father felt sorry for the bird and scared her three children "damned" by Ranying Hatalla Heaven for the actions of children - his son, the father was the spiritual power to heal wounds bird.
Because his eye on his brother who got the gold, diamond, etc. it. Thus, King was menghujamkan dohongnya Sangiang toward the bird so the bird's blood came out with a swift and he was doing the same thing that took its sangku to accommodate the bird's blood. It was also exactly the same as that obtained by King Sangen namely, gold, diamonds, etc.. And their father was finally heal the wounds on the bird. Thus, the bird was healthy again.
And again - again greed and envy that descend King Bunu. He also did what has been done by both his brother and he was getting the same results as obtained by the two brothers. And again - again the father was because he felt sorry for the bird's will to heal wounds and he made the bird. But apparently the bird's wound can not heal as usual. Eventually the bird flew with a wound and blood dripping wet areas it. Blood was dripping bird which became abundant wealth. Because the bird's physical condition is getting tired and the wound was getting worse, the bird was finally dead.
Finally, place the bird's death was filled with the eternal riches, and according to Hindu religious belief Kaharingan place called Lewu Tatau (Heaven).
